Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American model and singer. Also, she was co-starring with Prince in his 1984 film, Purple Rain. Her name was associated with her as the co-star in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain, and the lead singer of the girl group Apollonia 6 In the 80s, the actress-singer Prince named Apollonia to be one of the many female performers that gained by their connection with him. The actress was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959 her career started as a model and actress by the end of the '70s with a role on the television show CHiPS. She was the lead female of Prince's Purple Rain in 1984 (at which point he had changed her name). At the time of that year, she was replaced by Vanity as a member of the group Vanity 6 as well as performed alongside their brand name Apollonia 6 in the film. Sex Shooter was not a huge achievement for the group but she had a bigger impact as Prince's duet partner with Take Me with You on the soundtrack. Kotero cut ties with Prince following an argument throughout the course of her professional career. Apollonia 6 broke up due to their disagreement. In the wake of appearing in minor film (and reportedly refusing to participate in her role in the Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon) her name was mentioned and she was part of the 1985-1986 nighttime drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia finally released her debut album in 1988, but her comparatively tame collection of R&B/dance songs failed to impress those who bought music, and the album soon vanished out of sight. The following decade saw she continued to be active in the field of acting (if she was a bit under the radar) and also in a few film roles, television appearances as well as an exercise video. Apollonia's album Stay With Me was released in 1997. After returning to school and receiving a degree for filmmaking she started her own production company. Apollonia, Kotero is known as a multi-faceted person. She is a former model, singer and talent manager. As an actress she is well-known for her part in the film Purple Rain. Her other films and television programs include Black Magic Woman, The Divorce Ceremony and many more. Kotero debuted her career as a model. She participated in numerous contests.
